Welcome to my brand new writing website & blog! It has taken a while for me to set things up the way I imagined it. But, I am pleased with how it has turned out. So, welcome!

I’d like to start by telling you a bit about myself. I’m a journalist by trade who is also a trained interior designer and former luxury realtor. So, naturally being a writer who specializes in the world of home and lifestyles is a natural fit. I have been blogging off and on since 2009. I have primarily blogged about design and food as well as lifestyle. I am also a content and copywriter for the real estate and design industry with experience writing for tech, as well.

As for this blog, I have really honed in on my interests and my specialty which is design and lifestyle. You can expect to find posts on decorating projects, home furnishing round ups, recipes, travel and more (also, don’t be surprised by the occasional rant or two- depending on how much doom scrolling I indulge in).

I am a serial designer and have been renovating a classic Georgian row home for the past few months. I plan on sharing some of those projects here as well. So, if you are in to that sort of thing, you are in the right place! We are going to be fast friends.

Living an artful life is something I am super passionate about. Anytime I can elevate my everyday life through an idea or product, I am all in and I love to share that information with others. Something as mundane as washing the dishes can rise to the occasion and become a wonderful experience if you pay attention to the details. A deliciously scented dish soap decanted into a pretty glass bottle, some gorgeous linen tea towels and a sculptural wooden dish wand are little luxuries that elevate the ordinary task of dish washing to an enjoyable daily ritual.

There are so many micro choices we make each day that can have a huge impact in our every daily lives and that is the area I love to dwell as much as possible. Life can be hard at times so, ending the day in a bed dressed in beautiful linens and rooms scented with light floral diffusers are the magic ingredients to making life just a little sweeter.

A few more things about me:

I do not have good dishes and everyday dishes.  My good dishes are my everyday dishes.  It’s basically a metaphor for my philosophy on life.

I prefer things that are a little worn-in to those that are perfectly new.  Brand new anything automatically turns me into its fanatical caretaker.

I believe that perfection is the antithesis of happiness plus an absolutely futile pursuit.

Hence, I’ve come to know that a happy home is not a perfect one. 

My favorite quote is an anonymous one that I discovered on a Chinese gift bag(of all places)which read: “There is always light behind the clouds”.  It captures perfectly what I know with absolute certainty – no matter what cloudy mood you happen to be in , there is always something amazing around the bend. I often think of this quote when I am having a bad day and it reminds me that, without fail, something great is just around the corner.

…and above all, there is absolutely nothing more important than close family and dear friends. We all need to remember this and treat each other with as much care as we treat our things.
